We know that it’s the guide that makes or breaks a great tour. Most of our tours, with the exception of some very short trips or very small groups, are led by two excellent guides: the tour leader/head guide, and the primary driver/assistant tour leader.
Our tour leaders are experts in interpreting the landscape—both the natural world, with their deep knowledge of geography, flora and fauna, and the human landscape, with their ability to explain this region’s complex history (from the gold rush to the building of the railroad) and culture (from First Nations history and art to all the other fascinating human quirks and landmarks you’ll spot along the way). Note: In some jurisdictions, our guides are restricted by law in what types of guidance they can offer—in these cases, they will direct you to the correct licensed providers to make sure you get the experience you are looking for.
Meet Our Head Guide Katie – Katie grew up in New Zealand, so it’s not surprising that she loves being in the outdoors and will take up any and every opportunity to head out hiking and camping. Katie’s love of hiking has taken her all over the world, with her most recent memorable hiking expeditions including conquering the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island and hiking to Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal.
After spending a few years working in the corporate world, Katie realized that guiding in the outdoors was her true calling and she happily traded her heels for hiking boots. And she has never looked back. Katie feels privileged to spend her days guiding visitors through the best scenery in the world. We are thrilled to be working with her!
