We know that your experience will be strongly influenced by the quality of your tour leader. Our tours are normally led by two guides: One is the tour leader and head guide, the other is the primary driver and assistant tour leader. Occasionally, on short trips without camping and with few clients, one person may assume both roles.
Our guides are recruited for experience and knowledge of the area and go through rigorous training. They are Foodsafe and First Aid certified and, where necessary, carry additional certifications. Due to regulations, though, there are some limitations regarding the guidance they can provide within national and provincial parks; in these cases, they will direct you to the licensed providers.
Meet Our Head Guide Katie – Katie grew up in New Zealand so it’s not suprising that she loves being in the outdoors and will take up any and every opportunity to head out hiking and camping. Katie’s love of hiking has taken her all over the world with her most recent memorable hiking expeditions including conquering the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island and hiking to Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal.
After spending a few years working in the corporate world after university, Katie realised guiding in the outdoors was her true calling and she happily threw out her high heels for hiking boots and has never looked back. Katie has spent the last few years working as a guide in New Zealand and Canada. Katie feels privileged to spend her days guiding in the best scenery in the world. We are thrilled to be working with her!
